    NSW

    Office of Fair Trading is the regulator and issuing body for painting and decorating trade licences in NSW. You must have a licence before you do any residential painting and decorating work in NSW that is valued at more than $5000 (incl GST) in labour and materials.

    Before you are able to apply for your painting and decorating licence, you must complete a carpentry/joinery qualification such as:

    1. CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or
    2. CPC30611 / CPC30608 / BCG30603 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating

    This is a licenced occupation. Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements may vary between states and territories. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

    QLD

    Queensland Building and Construction Commission is the regulator and issuing body for painting and decorating trade licences in QLD. You must have a licence before you do any residential painting and decorating work in QLD that is valued at more than $3300 (incl GST) in labour and materials.

    Before you are able to apply for your painting and decorating licence, you must complete a carpentry/joinery qualification such as:

    1. CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or
    2. CPC30611 / CPC30608 / BCG30603 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating
