    NSW

    Office of Fair Trading is the regulator and issuing body for the demolition licenses in NSW. You must have a licence before you do any residential building work in NSW, including demolition, valued at more than $5000 (incl GST) in labour and materials.

    Before you are able to apply for your demolition licence, you must complete a demolition qualification such as:

    • CPC30420 - Certificate III in Demolition and
    • CPC41020 - Certificate IV in Demolition

    The 11 units you must study are:

    1. Plan and prepare for activities on demolition sites
    2. Read and interpret plans and specifications
    3. Select and use small plant and equipment for demolition tasks (first you will need to do ‘Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry’)
    4. Demolish small buildings and structures using hand tools and small plant equipment
    5. Identify hazards on demolition sites and apply risk management strategies
    6. Select and use tools and equipment for hot work in the demolition industry
    7. Manage demolition recyclable and waste materials using load shifting equipment
    8. Supervise individual activities on demolition sites
    9. Plan and supervise demolition work to minimise environmental and public health and safety impact
    10. Manage occupational health and safety in the building and construction workplace
    11. Finalise demolition activities and supervise property handover

    QLD

    Queensland Building and Construction Commission is the regulator and issuing body for the demolition licenses in QLD. You must have a licence before you do any residential building work in QLD, including demolition, valued at more than $3300 (incl GST) in labour and materials.

    Before you are able to apply for your demolition licence, you must complete a demolition qualification such as:

    • CPC30420 - Certificate III in Demolition and
