    Construction Waterproofing RPL COURSE OVERVIEW

    About The Certificate

The Construction Waterproofing RPL program is crafted to certify individuals with a trade outcome in waterproofing within both residential and commercial construction. This qualification integrates core competency requirements essential for the construction industry, coupled with specialized fields focusing on construction waterproofing.

The program's objective is to recognize and evaluate the skills, knowledge, and experience of individuals in this niche area. By doing so, it ensures that participants are adequately prepared to handle and contribute effectively to waterproofing projects within the construction sector. This includes tasks such as identifying waterproofing requirements, selecting appropriate materials and techniques, applying waterproofing membranes, and ensuring the integrity of waterproofed structures.

Successful completion of the Construction Waterproofing RPL program signifies proficiency in crucial aspects of construction waterproofing, aligning with industry standards and best practices. It serves as formal recognition of an individual's expertise and readiness to undertake waterproofing responsibilities in construction projects.

    Scope Of Work

The Construction Waterproofing scope of work encompasses a comprehensive set of tasks crucial for effective waterproofing in construction projects:

    1. Handling Waterproofing Materials: This involves the proper management, storage, and use of various waterproofing materials such as membranes, coatings, sealants, and adhesives.
    2. Utilizing Specific Tools and Equipment: Professionals in this field are adept at using tools and equipment specific to waterproofing tasks, including trowels, brushes, rollers, sprayers, and waterproofing application machines.
    3. Preparing Surfaces: Before applying waterproofing materials, surfaces must be adequately prepared. This includes cleaning, repairing cracks or defects, ensuring proper slope for drainage, and applying primers or bonding agents as needed.
    4. Applying Waterproofing Processes: Different areas within a building require specific waterproofing processes. This includes below-ground level wet areas such as basements and foundations, internal wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens, and above-ground external wet areas such as balconies, terraces, and roofs.
    5. Applying Remedial Processes: Sometimes, existing waterproofing systems may need repair or enhancement. Professionals in waterproofing are skilled in applying remedial processes to address leaks, water ingress issues, and other waterproofing failures.
    6. Assessing the Waterproofing Process: Throughout the waterproofing project, assessment and quality control are vital. This involves inspecting completed waterproofing work to ensure it meets industry standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

The Construction Waterproofing Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program acknowledges and evaluates individuals' skills and knowledge in these critical areas of construction waterproofing. It underscores the diverse skill set required, ranging from material handling and surface preparation to application techniques and quality assessment. Successfully completing this program demonstrates proficiency in performing essential waterproofing tasks in construction projects.

    Experience Requirement

To meet the requirements for the Construction Waterproofing Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program, individuals must have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant industry experience in various waterproofing tasks. This experience should be gained while working alongside a licensed waterproofer, ensuring that the individual has hands-on exposure to a diverse range of waterproofing projects and techniques.

The required experience can be a blend of both local and overseas work, although there is a specific requirement of 12 to 24 months of experience gained within Australia. This local experience ensures that the individual has familiarity with Australian construction standards, regulations, and industry practices, which are crucial for working effectively in the Australian construction sector.

By having practical experience in handling waterproofing materials, using specialized tools and equipment, preparing surfaces, applying waterproofing processes to different areas, and conducting remedial work as needed, candidates demonstrate their competence and readiness to undertake waterproofing projects in residential and commercial construction settings.

This combination of hands-on experience and adherence to local standards prepares individuals to contribute effectively to waterproofing projects and ensures that they meet the standards required for certification in Construction Waterproofing through the RPL program.
